Game Designer

At Bark No Byte, Game Designers are the visionaries behind the gameplay experience. They define the mechanics, progression systems, difficulty curves, and player interactions that bring our worlds to life. Working primarily with the Godot game engine, they prototype mechanics using GDScript and utilize tools like Notion or Trello for planning and balancing. A strong understanding of game feel, player psychology, and systems thinking is essential to creating engaging and replayable experiences.

In addition to creating compelling systems, Game Designers also collaborate with artists, programmers, and writers to ensure all game elements align with the vision. Familiarity with modular design, playtesting, and documenting game rules is important. Experience with Godot’s scene system and animation tools can be helpful for prototyping or testing ideas directly within the engine.
